Wendells Love the Jammers - Star Jam Success Story

June 17, 2017 at 6:41 PM

We had the best night at the 2017 StarJam Gala Dinner in Auckland on the 16th! What a huge pool of talented Kiwi kids!

I didn’t know much about the ‘jammers’ when I turned up (I was the happy addition to a table of diehard jammer fans) and I immediately saw why they support such a worthwhile charity.

What is StarJam?

They are a NZ-based organisation that helps over 450 young people with disabilities find their “can do”. They create empowering performance opportunities for young people with disabilities (who we call “Jammers”) by providing weekly workshops in drumming, singing, dancing and guitar, as well as opportunities to perform gigs at public and private events. StarJams unique programmes, all free-of-charge, give the Jammers opportunities to learn and develop skill sets, gain confidence, experience respect and build friendships; things that, because of their disability, they may not have had the opportunity to do before. Check them out and see them in action;
