H&S - What is a 'Safe' Rental Property

May 10, 2017 at 2:57 PM

There is a lot of stigma in the media around the Health and Safety legislation changes. Reducing accidents and injuries are an important part of this new piece of law, and it does affect every part of the property industry. This blog is from a different stand point. Tenants, to look over potential properties and see if they are “Safe” for their own families before they move in!

ACC have a very handy check list for a prospective property, and as noted on their website they encourage tenants to take a proactive approach to living in a safe property.

So if you are looking for a property, print this out and check off each property you look at to make sure that you are moving you and your family into a safe, accident free home.

If you have kids at home, try this great interactive game Danger Rangers http://www.acc.co.nz/PRD_EXT_CSMP/fragments/dangerrangers/home/index.html which helps them identify dangerous situations in and around the home. Something that all our kids should learn.

At Wendell Property we take a proactive and firm approach with Health and Safety. If you would like to discuss the legislation changes, and how this could affect you and your property, please get in touch.
